Henle Latin Second Year Study Guide

Help your students start and finish strong with First Year Henle Latin!

This study includes ALL lessons (1 through 32) of Second Year Henle Latin. This is for use in Challenge 2 of Classical Conversations. Listings for the study guides for Challenges A, B, and I are also available in my shop.

This study guide helps students slow down while reading through Second Year Henle, paying special attention to the rules. I found in the past that many of my students tried to skim the actual lesson and go right to the exercises. They became frustrated that the exercises were too hard and quickly gave up on Latin altogether. I've seen worksheets for declining nouns, conjugating verbs, and doing exercises. But none of what I found helped them walk through the lesson itself--the grammar. This workbook does just that. It asks questions based on the lesson and includes space for copying relevant rules and vocabulary from the lesson. Here is an example from Lesson 35:

This study guide does not include space for noun declensions and verb conjugations, or to write out answers to exercises. This guide is designed to help students focus on the Latin grammar first so that they are better prepared to do the exercises.

There is not, at present, an answer key. I am working through the process of how to make one. Please be assured that the answers to the questions are very easy to find on the assigned pages. They point of this guide is not to confuse students, but to help them slow down and read through the Henle text. If there is ever a question you really can't find, just shoot me a message and I am happy to help you out.

This is a DIGITAL FILE for you to download. The PDF document is 139 pages. It is designed to correspond with Second Year Henle Latin. The Latin textbook is required for using this study guide and is not included in this download.
