Description

This fun, interactive flippable is a great tool to study historical figures! Featuring the life of Helen Keller, students will learn her story, her accomplishments, key character traits, and her impact on our world through a combination of writing and illustration. Higher level thinking activities lead them to consider what message she would have for us today, and how being born in the year 1880 impacted overcoming her challenges.

Each flip-book is ready to go and easy to assemble. Available in color or black and white, students love to put these projects together and color them.

Flip-Book Research Includes:

*Research based activities such as date of birth and death, where she grew up

*Influential people in Helen's life

*Her major achievements

*Time travel writing prompt--what message would she have for us today?

*What key character traits enabled her to reach her goals?

*Reflections on the impact she had on the world

*Compare and contrast life when she grew up to life now

*Illustrations and artwork components

*Exploring works cited page concepts

In addition to the flip-book, there are several accompanying writing prompts or discussion starters:

"All About Character" explores how character determines success

"A Time in History" explores how one's date of birth in history affects circumstances

"A True Friend" explores Helen's friendship with Anne Sullivan
