What educators are saying
These are so cool!!! All of the kids were successful and worked on their houses diligently. I was blown away by their creativity.
Description
Young students will be fascinated by seeing some of the brightly decorated Heidelberg Houses in inner-city Detroit created by artist, Tyree Guyton. Students will make their own house collage using wood shapes, paint, and other easy-to-find materials. Step-by-step instructions make this lesson simple for students to understand and easy for the teacher to prepare for. This is also a great lesson for Black History Month!
Additional elementary art lessons geared for kindergarten through second grade:
Henri Matisse: Geometric and Free-Form Shape Collage
Piet Mondrian: An Art Lesson in Primary Colors
