What educators are saying

My students love digital escape rooms. Such a great time saver when I can find a good one already done.
My students loved this. It was just challenging enough that they had to work and think to solve the puzzles, but not too difficult for them to complete.

Description

This is a digital only escape room review about heat transfer. It covers thermal energy and the movement of particles, types of heat transfer: Radiation, Conduction, Convection, and thermal insulators and conductors. It is made up of a google slides document with an introduction storyline to the escape room and 4 puzzles made of review questions, different decoders for students to get their codes, and a google form that acts as digital locks opening when they get their code right.

I have students working in groups of 3 – 4 and have them collaborate in a virtual breakout room.

  • Puzzle 1– Students fill in the blanks to find a 5 letter code to unlock the next puzzle.
  • Puzzle 2 –Students answer the 4 multiple choice questions and then use the equation puzzle to change their letter code into numbers by determining the number value for each letter. They enter this numeric code into the google form to move on in the game.
  • Puzzle 3 – Students answer the 4 multiple choice questions and then use circle decoder to change their letter code into numbers. The numbers at the center of the circle are the question numbers (1-4) Then students move outward to decode their answers. Example, if the students got the letter B as their answer for question #2, this becomes a 6. They enter this numeric code into the google form to move on in the game.
  • Puzzle 4 –Students answer the 4 multiple choice questions and then use circle decoder to change their letter code into symbols the each have their own value.
