- One in-depth (2 page) letter to send out that details what high-frequency words are, why they are so important, regular and irregular words, how we used to teach sight words, how students learn, what orthographic mapping means, and how parents can best support at home. (2 versions!)
- Does that sound like too much to throw at your families? I have included a more concise (1 page) intro letter if you don’t want to send out as much detail!
- Samples of the heart word concept using words from and said
- How parents can help map the words at home - with clear directions and pictures
- Practice mats to send home with 3, 4, or 5 boxes on a page
- NEW for 2023: A foldable and simplified version of the parent letter. Print on colored paper and give to parents as a wonderful handout!
