Description

Are you looking for a way to introduce your students to the scientific method? This lab comes in both DIGITAL and PRINTABLE! This is a great introduction to labs. Students can easily create a hypothesis, collect data, graph data, and analyze/write a CER. Students will also identify IV and DV.

Students will complete different physical activities (walking, jogging, jumping jacks) to see what happens to their heart rate.

Printable Lab:

  • Student Lab Sheet (3 pages)

Digital Lab:

  • 10 Slides total using Google Slides
  • Students can add data right into lab sheet
  • Students will have the ability to create a bar graph digitally in slides by increasing the height of each square shape.
  • There are 2 options of this digital lab:
    • 1. Students will still have lab partners to gain their data and create a multi-line graph with it. I will be using zoom breakout rooms so students can have partners. Google will come out with breakout rooms in October. Or you can have students just share their data either in the chat with partners or they can email each other. The goal of them sharing their data is so it still simulates a “real” lab like in class, and so they can make the multi-line graph.
    • 2. Student will work independently to get data from just their heart rate and create a single line graph. I would use this for students who may have trouble with a multi-line graph, or students who were absent.
