Engage your students with a variety of real-world tasks this Halloween season!!

This Haunted Hotel project includes 8 math, problem solving, and writing tasks to celebrate Halloween, while sticking to the standards.

More about this resource:

• This project is quick and easy to prep. Simply copy the pages you need and staple into a packet or book. You can choose from black and white or colored pages. You can also have students add divider tabs for organization.

• Options to differentiate are also available. Some tasks come with two versions to choose from. Be sure to decide which versions you want to use before copying. A list of Ideas to Differentiate is also included to suggest additional options.

• An Answer Key with possible answers is provided for most of the math and problem solving tasks.

• A Scoring Sheet is also provided for scoring students’ finished projects.

Task Descriptions:

• Task #1: Descriptive Writing - Students write a paragraph describing each of the themed rooms at the hotel. They also illustrate detailed pictures for each room.
• Task #2: Area & Perimeter - Students create a floorplan for each of their themed rooms, given the area and/or perimeter of each item in the room. (There are 2 versions of this task to choose from.)
• Task #3: Create a Menu - Students use alliteration to come up with a variety of menu items.
• Task #4: Guest Check - Students create a guest check for two guests and then calculate the cost of the meal.
• Task #5: Events & Activities - Students come up with different events and activities for guests at the hotel to enjoy.
• Task #6: Create an Itinerary - Students create an itinerary for a guest at the hotel, based on a schedule of events. (There are 2 versions of this task to choose from.)
• Task #7: Find the Best Deal - Students use different hotel offers to find the best deals for 3 different guests. (There are 2 versions of this task to choose from.)
• Task #8: Persuasive Writing - Students write a persuasive essay to convince guests to visit the hotel. They include details based on the rooms, dining, and events & activities to make their case.
