Description
Did you know that J.K. Rowling created the spells in Harry Potter using Latin and Aramaic origins? This product is a fun way to teach students how to infer word meanings based on word roots/origins!
Included is a Slides presentation called "What the Spell?" It contains 12 spells with it's origin. Using this, students will infer what magic each spell performs. Each "answer" slide is a video clip from the Harry Potter franchise, and shows a character performing the spell.
The last slide includes closed notes for the presentation. You can use the notes along with the presentation, or you can simply use the presentation as a fun class activity that tests students' knowledge and skills!
