Description

As a director and teacher thrown into handbells with little experience, it took lots of research and experimentation to figure out what configuration of handbell positions worked best for my group.

This resource provides guidance on how to organize ensembles for 2 octaves, 3 octaves, 4 octaves, and 5 octaves of bells. Ringers can each receive a position card outlining the pitches they play in order to better mark music or recognize pitches. This also allows for flexibility if you have ringers that you want to challenge with four-in-hand or weaving techniques.

Includes groupings for:

  • 5 octaves/14 ringers
  • 5 octaves/12 ringers
  • 5 octaves by space & line
  • 4 octaves/12 ringers
  • 4 octaves/10 ringers
  • 4 octaves by space & line
  • 3 octaves/11 ringers
  • 2 octaves by space & line
