Description

Scary stories will take students through the entire writing process, from brainstorming to drafting to peer editing and writing conferences, finishing with a final published draft. Students create their own monster and then develop a strong description that will help others recreate the same monster! This is an engaging unit that is perfect for keeping students excited about writing. This can be used at any time of the year, but the monster theme makes it especially exciting for Halloween!
The 13 Days of Halloween poetry mini-lessons are designed to be a fun, easy way to integrate poetry, while taking advantage of your students' love of Halloween! Eight lessons are skill lessons, which means they are on a specific part of the poetry, or a pre-writing exercise. The other five are designed for actually writing a poem. There is also a review and evaluation piece at the end of the booklet.
