Description

These Halloween math and literacy centers are perfect for October in Kindergarten! This packet contains 11 literacy and 11 math center activities with a not-so-spooky Halloween theme! This packet also includes many Halloween themed print and go pages to help reinforce the skills covered in the centers.

These Halloween activities include:

-a table of contents

-recording sheets to hold students accountable for their work

-kid-friendly "I Can" charts with visual directions to promote independence

-an answer key for easy checking

-follow-up print-and-go activities/worksheets to reinforce the skills covered in this packet.

Here's an idea of the Halloween activities are included:

-Brewing Up Beginning Sounds - Students will look at a series of three pictures and determine which two have the same beginning sound. (RF.K.3a)

-Jolly Jack-o-lantern - Students will determine whether the two given pictures have the same beginning sound (RF.K.3a)

-Costumes, Pumpkins, and Candy, Oh My! - Students will look at a series of pictures all with the same beginning sound to determine the letter. They will record the secret letter on their paper. (RF.K.1d, RF.K.3a, L.K.1a)

-Spookily Letters - Students will read the card to determine which letter is missing. Includes optional alphabet line for additional support (L.K.1a, RF.K.1d)

-A Rainbow of Pumpkins - Students will select an uppercase letter card, and record the matching lowercase letter using the same color as the pumpkin. (2 ways to use) (RF.K.1d, L.K.1a)

-Costume Kids - Students will identify the matching lowercase letter and dab their answer (RF.K.1d)

-A Sweet Sort - Students will distinguish between uppercase and lowercase letters. (RF.K.1d, L.K.1a)

-Sweet Syllables – Students will dab the candies to show the number of syllables in the word. (RF.K.2)

-Write the Room - Includes a stationary option as well, instead of walking around the room. (L.K.1a, RF.K.1b)

-A Web of Rhymes – Students will determine whether the two given pictures are a rhyming match. (RF.K.2a)

-Rhyming Potions - Students will look at a series of three pictures and determine which two rhyme. (RF.K.2a)

-Spook-tacular Number Order – Students will put a series of three numbers in order. (K.CC.A.2)

-Boo-tiful Numbers - Students will compare two numbers (within 10) to determine which number is greater. They will dab their answer. (K.CC.C.7)

-Which is Less? – Students will count two sets of objects to determine which set is less. (K.CC.C.6)

-Sweet, Sweet, Counting - Students will count a group of objects (within 10) and record the number. (K.CC.A.3, K.CC.B.4, K.CC.B.5)

-Colorful Pumpkins – Students will count a set of colorful pumpkins. They will record their answer using the same color as the pumpkin. (2 ways to use) (K.CC.A.3, K.CC.B.5)

-Spooky Counting – Students will count sets of mixed objects to determine how many. (K.CC.A.3, K.CC.B.5)

- Sweet Ten Frames - Students will count the ten frame and record the number. They will count on to fill in the next two missing numbers (K.CC.A.2)

-Halloween Measuring - Students will use a candy corn picture rule to measure the objects. They will color the same number of candy corns on their paper to show their answer. (K.MD.A.1)

-Pumpkin Patterns - Students will copy and extend AB and ABB patterns.

-Five Treats Please – Students will use the colored candies on the card to create an addition sentence equal to five. (K.OA.A.3)

-Pumpkin Shapes – Students will select a pumpkin shape card, find the matching shape on their paper and color the shape the same color as the card. (K.G.A.2)
