Halloween Digraphs sh ch th wh

Trick-or-treat for Digraphs! Use this fun & spooky resource to practice reading digraphs, ch, sh, th, & wh words. Includes a Read Around the Room activity (or use as a literacy center) and a fun card game!

*Read Around the Room:
As a fun activity, tell students they are “trick-or-treating” for digraph words around the room. Have word cards taped around the room. Students will walk around and find trick-or-treater digraph words and write them on their recording sheets. This could also work as an assessment. Place cards in a pumpkin container or treat bag. Pull out cards one at a time, reading or displaying to students. Students will record words into the correct column.

Digraph th, ch, sh, & wh card game:
Students take turns reading cards with beginning digraphs sh, th, ch, & wh words. (Optional game mats are provided to use for each student to organize their accumulating cards into sh, ch, th, & wh categories as they play.)
Spider “EEK” and Ghost “BOO” cards are provided for a fun twist!
