The HASS learning area has two Strands and eight sub strands. When unit planning for a term or curriculum mapping over the entire year, it is useful to check that all Content Descriptors are being covered. This document makes this process quicker and easier.

Many teachers teach the Knowledge and Understanding Content Descriptors in discreet units (typically covering one of the sub strands per term). The Inquiry and Skills Content Descriptors are taught over the entire year rather than a ‘teach and move onto the next unit’ approach. By using the final four columns (terms), teachers may be able to record and check they are adequately coving and reviewing the content descriptors in their planning.
