    Description

30% off! Halloween can be CRAAAZY in ELA and drama Middle School lessons. The two fun mystery Readers' Theater scripts, and the 32 impromptu Halloween public speaking topics will funnel your grades 5-8 students' candy crazed energies positively! The Mystery of the Halloween Thieves is set on October 31. The Mystery of the Haunted House is set a few weeks before Halloween, and thus could be used before or after Halloween if time runs out. Both scripts focus on Middle School students and their fun pranks! Question sheets and answers are included in both scripts.

READERS' THEATER HALLOWEEN SCARY MYSTERY SCRIPT
This high interest Middle School Readers’ Theater brainteaser mystery script will provide one or two chills and lots of fun. The Mystery of the Haunted House script will entertain your drama classes, and require them to perform inference tasks to solve four major clues. The script is intended for about 9 students but the number of readers can easily be contracted or expanded depending on how many groups you wish to have.

    PLOT
This funny and engaging 11 page script revolves around the claim that a house is haunted. A boy seeking to raise money for a fashionable new pair of basketball shoes is trying to pull a scam. Only the teamwork of 12 year old twins (a sister and brother) can solve the four clues to reveal the scheme. Your students will enjoy testing their wits against those of the characters!

    STUDENT TASKS

-- Students have to read their own role.
-- Students participate in the sound effects.

-- Students discuss, then solve the mystery.

-- They write on six questions and complete a journal entry.
-- They design a ‘spot the difference’ drawing for a fellow student.

-- The resource ends with two pages of spooky jokes. These jokes have been separated from their punchlines. Students have to use their comprehension skills to reunite the jokes and answers.

    READERS' THEATER HALLOWEEN MYSTERY SCRIPT
This Middle School Readers’ Theater brainteaser mystery script will give students bags of seasonal fun. The Mystery of the Halloween Thieves readers’ theater script will entertain your students and require them to perform inference tasks to solve clues. The script is intended for about 11 students but the number of readers can easily be contracted or expanded, depending on how many groups you wish to have.

    PLOT
This humorous, high-interest story is about a Halloween in which a sister and brother known for being ‘unmotivated’ (some might say lazy!) have a much more active 31st of October than they had hoped for. They have to track down TWO Halloween thieves, one at school and one during an evening trick or treating. Phew! They definitely need your students’ help to solve the clues.

    STUDENT TASKS
-- Students read their own parts
-- Students assist in the solution of the two mysteries,
-- They discuss and write on six questions and complete a journal entry.
-- They complete two extension activities: a page of mix and match spooky jokes and a Halloween ‘Find the Missing Objects’ detection activity.

Question sheets and answers are included.

    HALLOWEEN IMPROMPTU SPEAKING TOPICS
These 32 Halloween Middle School speech topics are real crowd pleasers. Speaking for a minute on these impromptu topics will provide your grades 5-8 students in your ELA, drama or public speaking class with fun and speaking practice. Speaking on these fun prompts about Halloween will channel your students' candy-fueled energies productively!
    HOW TO USE
Just print off the sheets, get a willing student to cut them into strips, and get the students to randomly draw a topic. Give them a couple of minutes to prepare what they are going to say, and then let the entertainment begin! A small peer feedback handout is included – ‘Two terrifics and a tweak’ – so that students can give each other both positive feedback and one suggestion for any future public speaking opportunities. These speaking task cards could also be used as quick writes.

If your students enjoyed these scripts, they will have fun with these detective romps: READERS' THEATER- MYSTERY OF THE DRAMA CAMP THIEF
