Guided Math Progress Monitoring Assessments

I hope this product saves you a ton of time and really helps to inform your instruction in guided math groups. I now know my students as well in math as I do in reading! This product includes task analyzed checklists to inform instruction as well as the assessments, so it's all done for you!

I developed these task analyzed checklists and student record sheets when my team and I experimented with guided math groups that were grouped among the entire first grade rather than just in our own individual classrooms. We found we really needed a systematic way to record growth as well as common assessments to keep our groups fluid.

This product would make a perfect binder or just print pages as needed. Each section has a student progress record with standards that have been “unpacked”. Each subskill is also included to help diagnose a student’s developmental progress of math concepts. This has been a lifesaver when planning. It’s so easy! I now know my students as well in math as I do in reading. There is either a performance assessment or paper/pencil task to go along with each subskill for easy progress monitoring.

The addition and subtraction strategy interview assessments have transformed my teaching. These addition and subtraction tests were designed to reveal whether a student truly has a fact memorized as well as the strategies students are using when solving an equation. They will help you to determine the level of the student’s needs. For example, “Do they still count from the smaller number?, Do they understand 0 or 1 more?, What strategy are they using”, etc.
I love giving these one-on-one interviews because it allows me to “look” inside my students’ brains. Regular worksheet timed tests don’t provide you with enough information to inform instruction. Especially for those of your students who are just slow writers.
