Growth Mindset Partner Plays: 5 Scripts with a Comprehension Check Worksheet

Keep your students engaged as they learn about the various aspects of growth mindset with this fun partner activity! These five partner plays serve dual purposes. First, they are intended to be used as fluency-building activities that students can read with a partner. Second, they allow students to learn what it means to have a growth mindset in a memorable way.

The first script introduces definitions for growth mindset and fixed mindset, and it explains what it means to have each type of mindset. The remaining scrips present real-life situations in which the characters move from having a fixed mindset to having a growth mindset. Several growth mindset quotes are included!

It also includes a BONUS comprehension worksheet. After reading each script, students answer two comprehension questions that accompany that particular script.

These scripts require minimal teacher support, thereby allowing teachers to work with other small groups. For teachers who implement reading centers, these plays are perfect. These scripts are also ideal for parents who are looking for fun at-home reading activities that parents and children can read together. If you have a child who is reluctant to read at home, I encourage you to give these scripts a try!

This resource is available in multiple formats. Each teacher gets to choose the format that best meets his/her students' needs. You will choose between the printable partner plays and the paperless version that uses Google Slides. If you choose the printable option, you will have access to versions with color clip art and blackline clip art. Each script is exactly two pages, making it easy to print them back-to-back on a single page.
