Description

This fun room is all about Growing Things! The Virtual Library includes 24 books read aloud (via YouTube!) with both fiction and non-fiction titles - everything from planting the seeds to harvesting the crops, as well as the animals that help make it all happen. You'll also learn about plant care, parts of a plant, and more!

There are also 20 Growing Things-themed music and/or informational videos in the Media/Music Room, including fun activities! Look for the Happy Face and Tiny Seed icons for 2 BONUS links.

Selections are geared toward Early Education and Primary Students with age-appropriate content and delivery, yet they offer many benefits for older children, as well. Engaging illustrations enhance comprehension and provide scaffolding for English Language Learners, too.

During Distance Learning, I used these resources for quick access during Zoom instruction. My students enjoyed them independently via Seesaw, as well.

We have now returned to in-person instruction and as much as I prefer 'real' books in my hands and those of my students, as well, precautions are sometimes still in play. I often utilize the virtual library and music/media room format during whole group activities. They provide a budget-friendly collection of thematic resources all organized in one place. Students look forward to their turn to choose for the class and enjoy individual access via tablets in our alternative classroom library.

The home-school connection is so important, so students will continue to have access at home. They provide thematic enrichment, supplemental activities, and opportunities for shared reading with family & friends.
