Growing The Constitution History Lab
Description
Students will have concrete, hands on opportunity to think critically about the foundations of the United States Constitution.
Students will grow beans in a bag to represent the 5 European Influences of the U.S. Constitution.
Here is the idea behind this activity:
Everything begins with an idea. That idea will begin grow and more ideas are added to it. Eventually you have a working thriving concept. The U.S. Constitution is very similar. The Constitution began as ideas brought from Europe: Magna Carta, English Bill of Rights, John Locke, Montesquieu, Blackstone. When the colonists brought these ideas to the new world, they began to use them to create their own self-government, which gave them idea to have a revolution against the King of England, leading to the Articles of Confederation, and eventually the Constitution. When the students are doing their experiment. Every item in the experiment represents something.
