What educators are saying

It's been incredibly effective in boosting my students' reading and writing skills. The interactive activities keep them engaged, and I've noticed a marked improvement in their comprehension and enthusiasm for learning. Highly recommend for any educator!
This is a great activity to teach students about social media and the effect that it can have on one's self-esteem.

Description

This web quest can be used in any upper elementary or high school class that is discussing social media and its implications on society. This particular web quest explores how social media images can affect our self-esteem. There are four resources that have clickable links to explore - these include articles, a video, and and app.

You may print off this resource for your students and they simply need to input the links, or you can add the file to a google classroom and students can click the links right in the handout.

The teacher's guide included explains the steps to follow to facilitate the web quest. There is an introduction in the student handout that explains the rationale for completing the quest, followed by a description of the task that students will complete upon finishing their web quest research. In groups, students will visit the four resources and read or view the content before using the provided discussion questions to reflect on each resource as a group. To facilitate, you may want your students to use one computer, or set up laptop/iPad stations in your room so they rotate through the four resources.

After completing the four resources and discussing each as a group, there are instructions for a slide presentation to be completed by each group and presented to the class.

Included in this resource is a glossary of terms students may be unfamiliar with, as well as assessment and evaluation forms needed. These include a teacher checklist of skills you can observe while students are working on the web quest (this checklist can be used to help inform the final grade), a student self-assessment form, and a final grading rubric for the slide presentation. The grading rubric can be completed for each individual or for groups as a whole.
