What educators are saying

This was a great resource. My students really liked the visuals and it they were pretty realistic to help with generalization. This was a nice resource that could be used in a variety ways beyond shopping list.
My students loved using this! We're doing a whole unit on nutrition and healthy eating, and we set up a mini grocery store to warm up every day and practice shopping lists! I love the adapted lists & differentiation- it makes it so much easier for all my students!

Description

This is a Life skills grocery shopping task box resource for you special education students. This will help students learn about grocery shopping, following a grocery or shopping list, and grocery items/sections.

Instructions:

  1. Students would need to read the shopping list (or they could also make their own using the blank shopping list sheet)
  2. Find the grocery items in the correct box/grocery section (label your boxes with grocery sections).
  3. They have to put the items in the grocery cart.
  4. Tick or put a check mark on the shopping list for items they have successfully found.

Cut out and laminate the grocery items for prolonged and better use. You may also do the same with the shopping lists and grocery item lists.

Includes:

  • 11 labels
  • 131 grocery items
  • grocery item lists (word list and picture list)
  • shopping lists (word and picture list)- 8 shopping lists each (total of 48 shopping lists)
    • 5 items
    • 6 items
    • 7 items
    • 8 items
    • 9 items
    • 10 items

  • Grocery cart (2 sizes)

This can be used for younger students (picture lists and fewer items) and older students (word shopping lists and more items)

Alternative uses:

  1. Targeting teamwork and turn taking skills: Group or pair your students and they have to work together to complete the shopping list. They have to take turns in locating and putting the grocery items in the cart.
  2. Put each section of grocery items in separate tables. The students have to walk around the room to simulate going around the supermarket/grocery store.
