✨Grit & Growth Mindset Challenges: Build Resiliency Skills✨ Most growth mindset activities, posters, bulletin boards, coloring pages, positive affirmations or worksheets only discuss what Growth Mindset is or the Power of Yet... These fun Mazes encourage GRIT and a Growth Mindset allowing students to better understand and apply these theories by practicing them in the learning pit.

✅ Of all the things we teach our students, it’s hard to think of a concept or objective in the curriculum as crucial as instilling grit or how to have a growth mindset.

GRIT and Growth Mindset are the hot topics in the classroom at the moment and for very good reason. However, most products, blog posts, and resources only discuss what it is, what it looks like, and the importance of it. This activity as well as the other GRIT challenges allow you to explicitly teach it. These activities are designed to make the students struggle, fail, and to experience the depths of the learning pit. By doing so you are able to pinpoint those emotions, and thoughts, and capitalize on them.

I introduce these challenges in the first week of school and use them throughout the school year. These also make the perfect activity for New Years, Beginning of New Terms, Goal-Setting Activities and anytime your class needs a little refresher. A tough activity is the perfect discussion starter as to why it is so important we facilitate a growth mindset and know what GRIT is.

This product includes Grit Challenge #2: The Nitty Gritty Tangle.

Students will complete the different mazes there are over. 14 pages of mazes that are scaffolded to build confidence, while still facilitating a challenge.

My favorite part of this product is the reflection sheet. Students identify an emotion on the learning pit that best illustrates where they were before the activity ended. This activity requires a minimum of 10 minutes per sheet. By no means will a student finish the entire page, however, if you are short on time this will allow enough time for students to get the gist.
