Description

This weather themed resource was created to help students cope with the loss of a loved one. The activities included in this download are designed to give students an opportunity to discuss feelings and emotions to help with healing during the grief process. Each session includes activities for younger AND older aged students. This download includes color and black & white versions.

Included in Download:

Group Counseling Sessions: There are a total of seven scripted group sessions. Each session includes at least two activities enabling the group to be extended to a total of 12+ sessions. Each session has a clear outline of information to be shared and learning activities to complete.

Individual Counseling Sessions: Although this curriculum was designed for group counseling, it can easily be adapted to working with individual students. All activities can be completed with a minimum of two people (student and counselor), or in a larger group setting.

Talking Points: Each group session includes a ‘Talking Points’ page of helpful information to share with students in group or individual counseling sessions.

Paper Bag Grief Book: This is a hands-on, interactive way for students to keep all information learned from the counseling sessions in one place. Each activity or game fits perfectly in the paper bag book.

The Importance of Grief Counseling:

Grief counseling provides many benefits for students. It helps students navigate one of the most difficult aspects of their life. Students will develop new skills and learn more about themselves as they go through the grieving process. Being able to provide an opportunity for students to share their feelings and learn coping skills is vital for success in the healing process.
