Description

Are you doing a unit on Brazil with your students? Whether you're studying the Amazon rainforest or getting to know our neighbor to the south, this set of activities is a terrific way to make the learning easy and fun. They're also a hassle-free way to extend the learning in Mystery of the Troubled Toucan, the first book in the Pack-N-Go Girls® Brazil series, targeted for first to third grade readers. These lessons cover reading, writing, vocabulary, geography, science, math, and visual arts. The lessons can be used with or without the book. We've also thrown in some fun activities to keep kids busy on rainy days.

The lessons include the following and more!
READING--building reading strategies, discovering description, understanding idioms and figurative language
WRITING--building story writing strategies, writing descriptively
VOCABULARY--learning new words about the Amazon rainforest
GEOGRAPHY--mapping the South American continent
SCIENCE--learning about weather, contrasting local weather with Brazilian weather
VISUAL ARTS--experimenting with materials and tools and aesthetic characteristics

Pack-N-Go Girls® is the 2014 Gold Medal winner of the Moonbeam Children's Awards for best new chapter book series. The series engages the imagination of children ages 6-9 by introducing them to different countries around the world. They're packed with spooky mysteries, international friendships, and lots of fun and easy learning about another country.
