    Greek and Latin Root Word Posters - RETRO RAINBOW Colors:

    In this resource, you will find 44 posters AND headers that BOTH come in black and white, color, AND digitally as a Google Slides.

    • Full-Sized Posters: Each of the posters is broken down into three sections. Section 1 has the root word, its origin and definition, and a picture to represent it. Section 2 has a related word broken down into its word parts and then the definition of that related word using the word part meanings. Section 2 has four to five more related words.

    • Headers: Each of the headers has the root word, its origin and definition, and a picture to represent it.

    Greek and Latin Root Word Flashcards:

    In this resource, you will find 44 flashcards. On the front of each flash card is the root word and its origin (Greek or Latin), while the definition of the root word is on the BACK of each flashcard. Each flashcard comes in TWO versions.

    • NO List Number: These flashcards have NO list number on them, allowing teachers to teach the root words in the order that best meets the needs of their classroom.

    • WITH List Number: These flashcards are divided into FOUR lists and have the list numbers on them. This means there are 11 root words per list, which is about 10 weeks of instruction.

    Greek and Latin Root Word Sorts:

    In this resource, you will find 48 word sorts (there are five extra word sorts that combine two root words). Each sort comes in a print AND digital version.

    • Printed Sorts: The printed sorts include a full-size page and a set of words strips for each root word. The full-size page includes the root word, its meaning, the directions for the sort, and the eight related word definitions. The word strips, which come five sets to a page, includes all eight related words.

    • Digital Sorts: The digital sorts are a Google Slides that include the root word, its meaning, the eight related word definitions, and the word strips that students will move and sort.

    Greek and Latin Root Word Matrices:

    In this resource, you will find 42 word matrices. Each matrix comes in a print AND digital version with a hybrid version also included.

    • Printed Matrices: The printed matrices are double-sided. The front of the page has the root word, its meaning, the word matrix, and some boxes for student responses. The back of the page has additional boxes for student responses.

    • Hybrid Matrices: The hybrid matrices include the root word matrix as a Google Slides with a double-sided recording sheet. The front of the recording sheet has a line for students to put the root word and its meaning and some boxes for student responses. The back of the page has additional boxes for student responses.

    • Digital Matrices: The digital matrices are a Google Slides that include the root word matrix and a boxes for student responses.

    • Also Included: I have also included some EXTRAS to help students understand and deepen their learning of root word matrices, including EIGHT posters for student reference and FIVE extension activities.

    Greek and Latin Root Word Assessments:

    In this resource, you will find 16 assessments. There are THREE assessments for each list of root words (explained in the resource) as well as TWO assessments that can be used for the middle-of-the year AND the end-of the year. Each assessment comes in a print AND digital version.

    • Printed Assessments: The printed assessments are double-sided. The front of the assessment has Questions 1 - 2, while the back of the assessment has Questions 3 - 4 AND a self-reflection for students to fill out. Teachers will write the student’s final score in a box found at the top right on the front of the assessment.

    • Digital Assessments: The digital assessments are a Google Forms that include all four questions and the self-reflection from the printed assessments. I have made each of the Google Forms as self-correcting as I possibly can; however, because there are some questions that involve written responses and the computer cannot grade those as accurately, teachers will need to glance through each student’s assessments.

    Greek and Latin Root Word Puzzles:

    In this resource, you will find 12 puzzles. There are TWO leveled puzzles for each list of root words (explained in the resource) as well as TWO puzzles that can be used to review the first two lists of root words AND TWO puzzles that can be used to review the last two lists of root words. Each puzzle comes in a print AND digital version.

    • Version #1 - PRINT: For the PRINTED version of the puzzles, each student OR group of students will need an instruction page, a set of puzzle pieces, and a recording sheet. The puzzles come four to a page for a total of three to five pages for each level.

    • Version #2 - DIGITAL: For the DIGITAL version of the puzzles, each student will need access to the Google Slides game. They can complete the digital puzzles on their own or with a partner.

    Greek and Latin Root Word Task Card BUNDLE

    In this resource, you will find 4 task card sets and one BONUS task card set (see information about bonus items further down the page). Each task card set comes with the following:

    • 30 Task Cards: The 30 task cards come four to a page and will have students identifying a root word, determining the meaning of a root word (two versions), and using root words to make related words.

    • 4 Challenge Cards: The 4 challenge cards come four to a page and will have students answering more complex questions (finding related words, using root words in sentences, illustrating root words, and learning a new root to define a related word).

    • 3 Task Card Options: Every set of task cards AND challenge cards come in a print version (black and white for easier printing), a Google Slides version, and a self-correcting Google Form version.

    Greek and Latin Root Word DIGITAL Review Stations

    In this resource, you will find 6 sets of DIGITAL stations that each have 5 station activities. There is ONE station set for each list of root words (explained in the resource) and TWO station sets that combine the root words from two of the lists.

    • A Picture Puzzle: Students will create a picture of a biome by matching the NINE root words (found on the puzzle pieces) with their meanings (found on the grid).
    • Memory: Students will play memory by matching SIX root words with their meanings.

    • Race to the Finish: Students will take turns answering “True or False” statements about the root words in order to roll the die and make it the end of the board. There are two statements for each of the ELEVEN root words included for a total of twenty-two statement cards.
        • Statement #1 - The root word in RELATED WORD means “MEANING”.
        • Statement #2 - The root word in RELATED WORD is “WORD PART”.

    • Guess the Root: Students will match EIGHT root words to a list of clues that allude to the root word’s meaning and words that include that root word (a.k.a related words).

    • Tic-Tac-Toe: Students will play three games of tic-tac-toe by placing an “X” or “O” after they say the correct root word (playing on the definition) OR the correct definition (playing on the root word).

    In this resource, you will find 40 game cards. The game and all the cards comes in a print AND digital version.

    • Version #1 - PRINT: For the PRINTED version of the game, each student will need at leastone card. The cards come eight to a page for a total of five pages of cards, which is 40 game cards in all.

    • Version #2 - DIGITAL: For the DIGITAL version of the word sorts, each student will need access to the Google Slides game. They can complete the digital game on their own or with a partner.
