What educators are saying

My students were very engaged and enjoyed completing the pages to learn about prefixes and suffixes. They were able to see how the words fit together and changed the meaning of the root/base word.
I love this resource! My students are loving the games during their word work center. I also love the variety of activities each week to keep my instruction interesting. The resource is well organized and easy to follow. Highly recommend!

The 10th week in each quarter is a review week.

Words are spiraled throughout each quarterly unit to improve students' vocabulary retention. However, each ten-week unit is self-contained, so the units can be taught in any order.

    Why Teachers Love It!

    • Word lists are limited to 10 words to make it easier for students to practice & apply the words - better for long-term retention.
    • Save time by using these lessons for both spelling and vocabulary!
    • The unit spirals previously learned words into the hands-on activities in order to keep those words "fresh."
    • Student choice allows students to select how they practice their vocabulary words.
    • The hands-on activities are easy-to-prep.
    • Games are rotated to prevent boredom, but reused so students will know how to play - less instruction needed!
    • Use the games and activities all year long for centers, early finishers, Friday Fun Day, at-home practice, and more!

    What Teachers Are Saying

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Highly recommend this resource! Ingenious way for students to expand their knowledge of root words. I have taught Greek & Latin roots for years, but the creative ways students are exposed to featured roots and related words really reinforce their understanding. - Rhonda H.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐This is a very well-made resource, ready to go including lesson plans and extra activities. My students really enjoy the activities and are learning great vocab as well. - Stephen T.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐This was perfect for my intervention students when we were looking at affixes. So easy to use and so engaging! - Diandra G.

    Teacher Notes

This unit was design with grades 4-5 in mind. It would also work well in grades 6-8, but I am not sure that it would work as well in 3rd grade.

    DIGITAL UNITS

Do you need digital units instead of printable? These lessons are also available in PDF format, with hands on activities. Check them out HERE.

    Need Flexibility?

Having both digital and printable bundles provides teachers with more flexibility in their teaching. For example:

    • The PDF lessons include many hands-on games that are great for student engagement and can be used as centers.
    • Running short on copies? Use the digital slides.
    • Planning for a sub or computers are down? Use printables instead of digital files.
    • Use digital activities for reteaching or no-prep spiral review in centers.
    • Use the digital games for students who were absent for the hands on games.
    • Switch between digital and printable depending on whether you are learning in person or online.
    • Use the version that best meets the learning needs of each student!

Grab the Greek and Latin Roots Vocabulary Word Study MegaBundle and save both money and precious planning time!
