What educators are saying

I used all of the lessons in this bundle with my 8th grade students. They found it interesting and it helped their understanding of the relationship between gravity, mass and distance of objects. The moveable model of the Sun, Earth and Moon was a nice review of solar and lunar eclipses.
I used this lesson with my student and they found it engaging. I found this lesson very easy to implement and would use it again without hesitation.

Description

Do you need to teach Gravity and Mass? Students will learn that gravity is a force that attracts and is influenced by the mass and distance of interacting objects. Students will love learning about gravity in these lessons. Students will construct arguments based on evidence to support the claim that gravitational interactions are attractive and depend on the masses of interacting objects in the MS NGSS and Utah SEEd 7th Grade resource.

The unit includes:

  • a slide show on Gravity
  • a strategic note-taking guide
  • graphing activities
  • an article to read
  • QR code research
  • making arguments from evidence gathered
  • word wall words
  • interactive notebook inserts
  • informational text passages
  • response pages
  • assessment
  • answer keys

NGSSMS-PS2-4
Construct and present arguments using evidence to support the claim that gravitational interactions are attractive and depend on the masses of interacting objects. Examples of evidence for arguments could include data generated from simulations or digital tools; and charts displaying mass, strength of interaction, distance from the Sun, and orbital periods of objects within the solar system. Assessment does not include Newton’s Law of Gravitation or Kepler’s Laws.
