Description

Are you looking for gratitude activities to create a positive classroom culture and improve student behavior and relationships? Help your students understand the importance of gratitude and how to express appreciation with this engaging, no-prep Google Slides lesson!

Perfect to use during the fall and winter holiday seasons, including Thanksgiving and Christmas, and for celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week or the end of the year!

⭐️ Thank you message template included!

⭐️ In this lesson, students will learn answers to the following questions:

  • What is gratitude?
  • What can you have gratitude for?
  • What are the benefits of having gratitude?
  • How do you express gratitude?
  • How do you accept gratitude?

⭐️ WHAT'S INCLUDED (a complete lesson that uses the 5E Learning Cycle!):

  • Engage: Questions to hook students.
  • Explore: Questions to activate prior knowledge and the chance to ask questions before getting into the lesson.
  • Explain: An explanation of what gratitude is, the benefits, and how to express and accept gratitude.
  • Elaborate/Extend: The extension part of the lesson includes discussion questions and an activity asking students to write a letter or make a card to show gratitude to a teacher (Note: this is the only editable part of the presentation so that you can change the activity as you see fit or add your own creative idea; other ideas are included!).
  • Evaluate: Reflection questions at the end of the presentation.
  • Extra: Ideas for engaging students and extending the lesson further!

⭐️ These slides can be used by teachers or counselors with face-to-face instruction, distance learning, OR a hybrid approach in any secondary class. You can present the lesson to the whole class or have students review it themselves in small groups! This is the perfect lesson for a middle or high school AVID, advisory, or language arts class!

⭐️ This resource is a COMPLETE LESSON in one place (similar to a Hyperdoc, which takes students through the learning cycle in one doc or slide deck using hyperlinks and other media). Perfect for using as a differentiated, self-paced, student-centered lesson and/or whole class presentation!

⭐️ The time it takes for the entire lesson will vary depending on how much time you allow for group discussions, follow-up class sharing, and extension activities. You could spend as little as 60 minutes on this lesson if that's all the time you have, or as much as one to three whole classes or more if you include some of the suggested extension activities. For ESL classes, you may a little need more time.

Note: You can skip or delete any of the slides you don't want to use and add your own notes to any of the slides.
