Graphing Polynomials with Zeros Card Match
What educators are saying
Description
I use this activity after students have learned to graph polynomials using their zeros and end behavior. It’s a great opener or closer, and usually takes my students about 10 minutes. All equations are factored, and some include even multiplicities (bounces on the x-axis).
This activity is best for partners as it encourages team work, reinforces use of vocabulary, and facilitates discussions to further understanding of this PreCalculus/Algebra 2 topic.
If you have access to a laminator, the cards will last a lot longer (I’ve been using the same set for years!). I also laminate the answer cards and the students use whiteboard markers to fill out the answer cards.
When they bring up answer cards to me, I will usually tell them one card specifically that is incorrect but they need to figure out what to switch it with. Sometimes if they have a lot of mistakes, I’ll erase the mistakes for them and ask them to return and try again.
