Description

This is your ULTIMATE writing resource for launching writing workshop and personal narrative writing for students with special needs/504/ELL. The name of the unit is “We are Story Tellers” with students writing stories from their lives. It is inspired by Lucy Calkin's small moments writing and Authors as Mentor/Scenes to Stories writing. This unit will help establish writing behaviors, routines and expectations. Students will learn a variety of strategies that will help them be prolific writers such as how to plan their stories, spell and write for longer and longer. In addition, students will learn new crafts to make their writing interesting.

This is the first unit in a series of 4 nine weeks units that will introduce writers’ workshop to your students. This unit is aligned to the National Common Core Standards and Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. Choose from 40 lessons for your class. Each lesson is paired with a premade student friendly chart. The charts are differentiated for English-language learners, at-risk students and students with special needs/504.
