    Description

This Grades 6-12 document set gives Florida Public School Parents and Teachers more information about how their child and/or students are performing on the FAST ELA B.E.S.T. Standards Assessments on PM1, PM2, and PM3 to inform progress and learning throughout the year. These documents were published in DRAFT by the FlDepartment of Education in May 2023 and can be found at their website in its entirety (grades 3-10). NOTE: 11th and 12th Grade Reading Retakers are to utilize the 10th Grade document as they will need to pass the 10th grade FAST ELA assessment to graduate or another concordant option.

These statements are broken down into the three reporting categories with guiding statements for each benchmark tested on the ELA Reading FAST Assessment:

    1. Reading Prose & Poetry (R.1.1, R.1.2, R.1.3, R.1.4)

    2. Informational Text (R.2.1, R.2.2,R.2.3, R.2.4)

    3. Reading Across Genres & Vocabulary (R.2.1, R.2.2, R.2.3, R.2.4)

Each category is separated by the results on the student and class reports:

    Below Expectations

    At/Near Expectations

    Above Expectations

    For parents:

Use these documents to understand your child's report and the instruction/learning which needs to occur from PM 1 to PM2 and from PM2 to PM3.

    For teachers:

Use these documents as a stepping stone to begin to understand the scaffolded instruction needed to move students from one level to the next. This will assist with planning whole group instruction to increase the rigor and small group instruction to know how to support the students toward their next level in the text.

    For administrators:

Use these documents (and the other grade level documents) as your "cheat sheets" to guide teachers through their learning as they read through the statements and determine the benchmarks the bullets are targeting and the way the statements are changing from below to at/near to above. Then assist them to match what that instruction does and does not look like in their curriculum.

These products are in DRAFT by the FlDOE and released by them. It is in public domain and what you are paying for is the time to have dissected and highlighted it for you to make it clear the differences among the statements to save you time. Hope you enjoy this along with the ideas on how to use it. Let's grow together!
