Grade 5 Science Unit 3 - Forces and Simple Machines

This unit on Forces and Simple Machines meets the requirements of the Saskatchewan Grade 5 Science outcomes and indicators. There are three units included, one for each of the following outcomes:

FM5.1: Analyze the effects of gravitational, magnetic and mechanical forces, including friction, on the movement of objects

FM5.2: Investigate characteristics of simple machines, including levers, wheels and axles, pulleys, inclined planes, screws and wedges, for moving and lifting loads

FM5.3: Assess how natural and man-made forces and simple machines affect individuals, society and the environment

There are 7 lessons for Outcome 1, 9 lessons for Outcome 2 and 10 lessons for Outcome 3. All have descriptions of what the teachers can do and how students are expected to perform.
