Description

Teach in person or master distance learning virtual lessons with Grade 5 EnVisions Math 2.0 Version 2016 Topic 1 Inspired Power Point lessons, covering exponents, powers of ten, decimals, comparing decimals, ordering decimals, and place value! These Common Core aligned lessons allow you to integrate technology into your instruction and use the Common Core based EnVisions skills and terminology to help your students master the skills. For distance learning, you can teach virtual lessons using a shared screen, or break these apart into individual lessons and download them as Google slides to be assigned.

Every lesson power point contains:

* Warm-up for spiral review of skills previously learned.

* A "Think and Write" to integrate math and writing skills and often make connections between math and daily life experiences of the students.

* Relevant vocabulary for the lesson or topic being taught

* Step by step breakdown of how to solve or perform the operation/skill being taught

* Practice problems that you can use to demonstrate on the board, on slates/communicators, or in notebooks to engage all students.

* Word problems to show whether students can solve problems using deeper analysis and evaluation levels of the skill. Some problems also incorporate multiple steps. By observing student responses, you can decide whether students need more review or are ready to move to independent work. It's a great method of informal assessment!

These Common Core Version 2016 lessons focus on place value and numeration. Topics covered include exponents and powers of ten, decimals, fraction and decimal equivalency, comparing decimals, decimal place value, ordering decimals, and word problems. This topic is aligned to CCSS 5.NBT.A.1, 5.NBT.A.2, 5.NBT.A.3.B, and 5.NBT.A.4. Lessons presented by the power points include:

Recognize that in a multi-digit number, a digit in one place represents 10 times as much as it represents in the place to its right and 1/10 of what it represents in the place to its left.
Explain patterns in the number of zeros of the product when multiplying a number by powers of 10, and explain patterns in the placement of the decimal point when a decimal is multiplied or divided by a power of 10. Use whole-number exponents to denote powers of 10.
Read, write, and compare decimals to thousandths.
Read and write decimals to thousandths using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form, e.g., 347.392 = 3 × 100 + 4 × 10 + 7 × 1 + 3 × (1/10) + 9 × (1/100) + 2 × (1/1000).
Compare two decimals to thousandths based on meanings of the digits in each place, using >, =, and < symbols to record the results of comparisons.
