Sentence a Day

Stronger, better, richer sentences? Yes please! This set of activities focuses on building just that. There is a terms work that can be completed whole class, small group, paired or individually. It is meant to be a 10 minute warm up each day to revise and refresh student learning.

This Power Points reflects the learning for Year 3 , but can be used whenever the need arises to either teach, reinforce or assess. There are 3 Power Points, one for teachers with all the information, one for students to complete individually with editable weeks and worksheets for students with editable weeks for Term 1 and Term 2 at this stage. I deliberately did not add the worksheets as a PDF as many teachers have requested to be able to edit the weeks to best suit the needs of their class. The learning intentions and success criteria are intentionally editable as it was a request from the many teachers who have purchased these, so they can best meet the needs of their students at that particular time.

Writing

These resources of a PowerPoint and student worksheets is to encourage students to write more imaginative and informative paragraphs using visual stimuli.

The PowerPoint has a visual stimulus which can be used for the initial planning and then with the timer it can be used for their final write.  It reminds students about the definition of a paragraph.

There is a 10 minute timer.

There is a planner for the type of paragraph writing that you might like to do ( This would be one lesson. Students can work individually or with a partner.) There is also a sheet for students to write their final paragraph .

Checklist is included to ensure that they have followed their success criteria.

Number Talks

will get your students engaged in meaningful mathematical conversations that will increase their ability to reason mathematically as well as develop their computational fluency skills and their ability to think flexibly about numbers.

When students engage in this short daily activity, they communicate with their peers in a safe environment where it's okay to not be right all the time. It's okay to learn from each other. They learn to discuss various strategies and the effectiveness of those strategies. They begin to take risks.

Earn credit for future purchases:

Simply go to your "My Purchases" page. Beside each purchase you'll see a "Provide Feedback" button. Click it and you will be taken to a page where you can give a rating and leave a comment for the product. TPT will reward you with credits that can be used to lower the cost of future purchases. Y
