    Description

This product doubles as full digital lessons for the Concept Development portion of Grade 1 Eureka Math and also includes independent practice with interactive Google slides following each lesson. No prep-work needed for 6-8 weeks of math lessons with 1,690 slides at a big discounted rate! These lessons support CCSS Operations and Algebraic Thinking CCSS.1.OA.1 and Numbers and Operations in Base 10 CCSS.1.NBT.2, CCSS.1.NBT.3, CCSS.1.NBT.4, and CCSS.1.NBT.5 and Operations and Algebraic Thinking 1.OA.1 as well as Standard Mathematical Practices SMP1-SMP8. It is designed for first grade (Module 4 Engage New York Eureka) but can also be used for second half of kindergarten or to supplement or enhance other curriculums as it focuses on the same standards. It can also serve as a great review for second grade.

This entire product line doubles as an interactive Google Slide digital lessons for the Concept Development portion Engage New York Eureka program to be displayed on your Smart Board or shared on your screen during your lesson, but also contains interactive Google slides for independent or small group practice after the whole group lessons to be assigned on Google Classroom or Seesaw to put the lesson into practice.

In this fourth module for first grade, the Math Detectives explore place value, comparison of two-digit numbers, and addition and subtraction to 40. Topic A focuses on place value. The entire topic is focused on the theme of the circus as the Math Detectives investigate tickets, circus acts, food, and attractions. In Topic B, the Math Detectives explore the concept of greater than, less than, and equal to using the knowledge acquired in Topic A. The investigation begins around the alligator mouth of eating groups of fish to show more and less but eventually transition from the alligator symbol to the mathematical symbols of <,>,and =. Topic C revolves around the concept of adding and subtracting tens and multiples of 10 on the construction site. Topic D explores classic Nursery Rhyme characters as they investigate and determine strategies that prove most effective when adding two-digit numbers. In Topic E, the Math Detectives investigate restaurants and fast food places and introduce tape diagrams as a new math tool used in addition and its related subtraction facts. Finally, in Topic F, the Math Detectives explore our community and investigate mysteries involving community helpers that have math mysteries every day in real world applications.

Use these lessons as whole group shared on your Interactive whiteboard in the classroom as your instructional lesson, shared on your screen on Google Meet or Zoom for distant learning, or as a small group lesson in present mode as a visual while teaching. Students will follow along using their individual whiteboards or notebooks. Each slide is annotated with dialogue in speech bubbles to guide your lesson, but feel free to make it your own! Each slide is designed to serve as a foundation for which math discourse in the classroom can build and grow.

After the lessons are the independent slides for students. You can assign these slides in Google Classroom or on Seesaw (or any other program that supports Google slide products). Simply hold "ctrl" to select the slides you want to assign, go to file and make a copy. From there you can assign as you normally would on your preferred digital platform. These slides are interactive when in edit mode only! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask here or you can email me (see my TOU below for contact information).

Understand that the two digits of a two-digit number represent amounts of tens and ones. Understand the following as special cases:
10 can be thought of as a bundle of ten ones - called a “ten.”
The numbers from 11 to 19 are composed of a ten and one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, or nine ones.
The numbers 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 refer to one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, or nine tens (and 0 ones).
Compare two two-digit numbers based on meanings of the tens and ones digits, recording the results of comparisons with the symbols >, =, and <.
