Government: Political Party Handouts and Activities

There are many activities and handouts that will surely get students more acquainted with the American political party system! Many of these are web-based, while others do not need a computer.

Here are the activities:
1. Web activity: find out what each political party believes in regard to 10 key issues.
2. Partner activity: groups will receive strips of paper, which each has a party's stance on it. They then need to glue or staple each stance in the student handout table (box) provided. This can be made into a group competition! It also comes with teacher instructions and an answer key.
3. Political Party Identification Worksheet: there are 10 questions about political parties that students are to answer. They can do this handout individually. Answer key included.
4. The fourth handout has students fill out what they think each party believes (without any assistance), as well as what their own personal beliefs are. This might actually be one of the first handouts to give students.
5. American 3rd parties handout: this handout is a web-based activity that allows students to explore five current 3rd parties in the USA.
