Description

This Promethean flipchart for Activboard is a great lesson for teachers or school counselors on the first week or school or just a good refresher throughout the year, when needed. I found this very useful when students returned from a long holiday break and needed a crash course on good classroom citizenship. The motivating introductions consists of two pictures which students determine the difference between the two photos: one of of which is a classroom of students working quietly at their desks, and the other picture has a classroom full of disruptive students (sleeping, rolling around on the floor, etc). This leads into the daily lesson objectives with a high ordering thinking question about classroom citizenship. The next page calls for critical thinking caps in which students must brainstorm what makes a good classroom citizen. Next, the students can as a class, individually, in pairs, or in groups determine traits of these ideal citizens. Next, the teacher flips to the page of examples of traits and qualities of a good classroom citizen. Then, the next 4 slides consist of multiple choice in which students must differentiate the good classroom citizenship from the one who needs improvement - there are a variety of ways to conduct this activity. Last, the lesson wraps up with a higher order thinking closure question, and after the teacher has gotten feedback from the class, he/she can remove the green oval to give them a summary of what was covered today.
