Description
This product entirely in French from Chez Nathalie is a theatrical adaptation of the Abenakis legend: Gluskabe et le vol du tabac (How Gluskabe Stole Tobacco), which focuses on tobacco, a sacred plant. Gluskabe’s grandmother is sad that there is no more tobacco, and her grandson wants to see her happy. When Gluskabe learns that a selfish and dangerous wizard (Grasshopper) grows it solely for his own purposes on an island far away, Gluskabe decides to steal his tobacco and share it with everyone. He accomplishes his mission and punishes Grasshopper. There are 7 roles: 3 main roles and 4 smaller roles. There is also a page before the legend which explains the sacred plant in First Nation culture and a page at the end of the product which contains a summary of two other legends on the same theme as well as discussion questions.
