Glove Removal Lab - blind sequencing opener and glove removal lab
- Google Slides™
Description
This lesson was created to use in conjunction with a glove removal lab where students are taught to properly remove and dispose of gloves.
You will need the following items to complete this lesson:
- Enough gloves for each student to have two
- Make a fake blood solution - I use dial soap and red food coloring
- Printed blind sequencing sentences - The sentences for this activity are included in the purchase on slide 3.
This digital purchase includes a 13 slide google presentation on cross contamination, glove safety, and step by step guide to proper glove removal. The first two slides instruct you through a blind sequence opener to get your students thinking about the glove removal activity and check their prior knowledge. You will need to print and cut out the sentences in the blind sequencing activity for each group to participate. Students work together to read the sentences and place them in the correct order. Following the opener you will lead students through an information session on cross contamination and glove safety. Then I use the presentation to preview the steps to proper glove removal. I show a demonstration and finishing with students taking turns at the lab table to practice removing soiled gloves.
I formatively assess my students on completion of the lab by having them successfully demonstrate that they can remove the gloves without getting any blood solution on their skin.
