What educators are saying

Perfect craft for our Gingerbread House day in first grade. The kids loved making these little houses.
My students loved building their gingerbread houses. This was a great activity for the week before winter break.

Description

These cute little Paper Bag Gingerbread Houses are a fun and festive way to celebrate Christmas with your favorite kiddos... and they make adorable gift bags, too! They are easy-to-prep and super simple to make! All you'll need is brown or white paper lunch sacks and newspaper or paper towels... that's it! For a better look at what's included, just click on PREVIEW!

Since these gingerbread houses require quite a bit of coloring and cutting for little fingers, I usually like to complete this project over two days. Day #1: Allow students to choose a roof style and door/windows to color and cut out. Glue on the door and windows, but slip the roof inside their bag (they'll need it tomorrow!). Day #2: Students will color, cut out and glue on all the fun decorations for their gingerbread house. When finished, crumple up one sheet of newspaper or paper towel and insert it inside their bag, place the roof on top and staple on each side. If using as a gift bag, simply place the gift item(s) inside the bag, place the roof on top and staple. So simple and so cute!
