Gifted and Talented Unit - Research the Fantasy Fiction Genre and Design Your Own Fantasy Fiction World and Story

The purpose of this unit is to explore the genre of fantasy, focusing on the creative process of developing a fantasy world (setting, language, characters, plot, sub-plots, etc.) About This Activity:

I developed this enrichment unit for my grades 3-5 gifted and talented class. Like many children and adults alike, they have a high interest in fantasy series. This unit plays into that high interest and allows student to analyze the genre of fantasy as well as use their research to develop their own fantasy world.

Since my G&T class structure only has the opportunity to meet weekly, the unit will last approximately two months for me. If we had the opportunity to meet daily, I would cover this unit in two to three weeks time to allow ample time for research and creating their fantasy worlds.
