Gifted and Talented Back to School Unit

The first days of school are the most important for setting a precedent of how the rest of the year will be! Use this Back-to-School Unit to prepare your students for the best year yet! This unit is designed for 2nd-5th grade gifted and talented classrooms, but may be adapted for other classes and grade levels. Gifted and Talented Standards are listed for each activity, but activities may also meet CCSS.

This unit contains:

All About Me- Students will use a template to draw a self portrait.

What Does It Mean to Be Gifted Object Lesson- This activity adds to their self portrait and also gives a wonderful explanation of just how special it is to be gifted!

Back-to-School STEM- This balloon based STEM project is sure to challenge and engage your students!

What Makes You, You?- This expandable activity can be as simple as drawing or as engaging as show and tell! It's up to you!

SMART Goals- Help your students set good goals for this school year. Teaching slide included!

Executive Skills- Students will participate in silly skits to act out the correct way to use executive skills.

I Am Poems- Students will work on affective and social emotional skills by writing poems about themselves.

Classroom Kindness- Create sense of community in your classroom by fostering kindness and friendship.
