★ ★ Gifted and Talented - Design Your Own Tiny Home★ ★
Students work to research and design a tiny home! They will follow a guided process of researching, brainstorming, planning, budgeting, designing, and communicating about their tiny home and new tiny home lifestyle plan! Designed for gifted and talented program, but also great for early finishers and high-interest enrichment! Included in this Unit:
♦ 10 Page Workbook (10 pages)
About This Activity:
The unit is designed with a cover page for easy photocopying as a workbook style unit. The unit is “print and go”. All workspace is included in the packet. The unit covers the topics of planning and designing a tiny home. The students will review articles and pictures of tiny home designs and philosophies, reflect on the possibility of adapting to the tiny lifestyle, brainstorm their needs and wants for a home, plan for downsizing, develop a budget, draw an interior floor plan and exterior design, and write a brief summary of their home.
Use in The Classroom
I developed this product for my gifted and talented students. I designed this with my 5-6th graders in mind, but believe it is useful for a range of middle grades. I have included in the product a digital link for extension for early finishers. I usually have the students give brief oral presentations of their design and have a gallery walk displayed of their design pictures.
