Gerrymandering Activity (Most Popular!)

A custom gerrymandering activity that will help your students understand how the same area can be gerrymandered for whichever party is in power. The exercise uses Los Angeles as an example. The exercise is set up with each excel square representing voters in a certain party. Students are instructed to create as many districts for each party as possible, while making sure each district is contingent and of equal amounts of voters. Students can work on their own or in pairs, using a pencil for outline, shading, or highlighters. Very interactive.
