German Dialogues, Greetings, First Phrases, and Questions

A creative twist on practicing beginning German dialogues!

Task Cards- To warm students up before the activities that follow, I have included 24 task cards. On each card is a common word, phrase, or question auf Deutsch for students to respond to. Additionally, I have included suggestions as to how you can implement these task cards into your lessons for the week.

Reading- Two dialogues have been jumbled and students need to put them into the proper order. The dialogues are a bit sillier (more creative) than the usual, dry textbook dialogues and contain a few new words (and their translations). Students will most likely be able to complete these readings independently. Two versions of each dialogue are included to make differentiation easy for you.

Writing- Students are given 3 scenarios in which to practice various greetings and phrases. In addition, tips for students (as well as tips for teachers!) are provided on how to write a creative dialogue, even as a beginner. This is an excellent in-class assignment and/or assessment.

These activities are great for differentiation! The readings allow advanced students to pick up a few new words. The writing section can be simple or more advanced. Because of this, these activities serve as a good review at the end of the first chapter(s) of German Level One, and/or also later in the first semester.
