German Alphabet, Numbers, Geography and First Phrases

German license plates are interesting! Because they are full of letters and numbers, they provide us with an authentic opportunity to practice the alphabet and numbers in multiple combinations. In this activity, students will also learn about vanity plates trends in Germany. These (true and authentic) trends actually include a lot of what we teach beginner German students: (birth)dates, names, geography, creating & spelling words!

Through explaining the ins and outs of license plates in Germany, this highly cultural and fun beginner activity covers the following concepts:
-birthdates & ages (months & numbers)

-German geography

-the alphabet

-simple phrases like “ich bin,” “ich habe,” “ich komme aus,” & “ich wohne”

This activity bundles contains multiple opportunities for speaking, writing, and listening, as well as some reading in German. There's even a fun project at the end!
