Description

All Detective-Themed clipart created by www.mycutegraphics.com

Aligned with the Common Core, this engaging and interactive Geometry SmartBoard Unit is sure to encourage active participation from your students and improve their understanding of geometry. This unit requires interaction in order to make shapes appear using a magic magnifying class, make shape appear with the touch of a finger, move items around on the page, etc. It will bring geometry to life, improve student understanding, and is the perfect supplement to hands on learning with the use of manipulatives that could easily follow each lesson. There are several slides for each concept to ensure thorough understanding and practice with each skill.

Included in the unit are the following concepts:

Name, identify, draw, and describe geometric shapes in two-dimensions (circle, triangle, square, rectangle, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and octagons).

Name, identify, and describe geometric solid shapes in three dimensions (sphere, cube, cylinder, cone, pyramid, rectangular prism)

Identify solid figures by their faces, edges, vertices, number of angles

Identify Congruent shapes

Identify slides, flips, and turns,

Lines of symmetry

In order to improve student participation, I export my Smartboard lessons as PDF's. Once in that form, I copy and create a workbook for each kid so that as I am teaching the lesson on the Smartboard, the students are answer the questions, jotting down answers, and following along with me. I use wipe off sleeves and reuse these books each year!!!!

Quick Checks/Worksheets are also available to purchase in my store. They are a great follow up to each lesson.
