GarageBand Activity 30 Second Commercial (iOS and Mac)

This latest GarageBand activity is a project-style approach to learning some basics of GarageBand for iOs (iPad and iPhone) or the Mac version (laptop, iMac, MacBook).

Students work with text to create a 20 second commercial info section track and two 5 second tracks - intro and exit music.

They can experiment with background loops behind the spoken text learning about volume and balance. Also, reverb, echo and basics of mixing can be used... it's all visual, which is easy to use. For those students experienced, they can use 'live' FX to modify existing loops... so exciting and personal.

Students can share their work ultimately ending up for feedback on Social Media sites like SoundCloud. My school made a free account and will be posting student creations before Christmas! Students and teachers will be giving feedback and voting for their most favourite commercial... BTW, this is an ESL activity for my school as English is the second language. This, hopefully helps build their communication skills as well as their 21st century music skills.
