⇧ See the detailed PREVIEW for a clear idea of what to expect with your purchase ⇧

Unit Outline (see preview)

This is a copy of the unit outline. Links are activated when you purchase and download the file from TpT.

NEW 2021 - Unit workbook (see sample page in preview)

Printable worksheets to address each expectation

NEW 2021 - Digital Classroom Slides (see a full lesson in preview)

We have created a copy of the lessons that can be shared in your Digital Classroom. The slides are the same but the Teacher's Notes and Answers have been removed.

LESSON PLANS

We have created lessons that correspond to each of the expectations of the Ontario math curriculum. All lessons follow a 3-part format including expectations, learning goals, examples, minds-on activities, action activities, extension/discussion activities, and consolidation activities. In some instances, there are two lessons to cover an expectation because of the depth and/or difficulty. I would suggest you move on at a pace appropriate for your students.

Original Version (still available)

  • Lesson 1: represent, compare, and order decimals
  • Lesson 2: generating multiples and factors
  • Lesson 3: identify and compare integers
  • Lesson 4: represent and order integers
  • Lesson 5: select the most appropriate representation of a quantity
  • Lesson 6: represent perfect squares and square roots
  • Lesson 7: relationships between exponential notation and volume

STATIONS (CENTRES)

Give your students a chance to work on the material in a different way. I use this as an opportunity to spend some time with GUIDED GROUPS (Questions included) for the first half of the period and monitor/assess during the second half of the period. If you have a challenging class, this can be a difficult routine to establish, but well worth the effort!

  • Two guided stations
  • Skip counting with playing cards
  • Greater than / Less than with playing cards
  • Baking Cookies (Problem-Solving)
  • (Media) Video Links

I HAVE... WHO HAS... game (Comparing Fractions, Decimals, and Integers).

It has proven to be a great activity for content review and developing teamwork within my class

STUDY GUIDE and UNIT TEST (with answer keys). I give the students the STUDY GUIDE at the beginning of the unit and have them meet with me periodically before the test to ensure they understand the material

TRACKING TEMPLATES to help you record student learning and grades.

Ontario Math REPORT CARD COMMENTS

I have included comments that apply to the unit.
