Exploring Lines, Shapes, Area, and Perimeter

The date is January 24, 1848.
The location is Sutter’s Mill, on the American River, Sacramento Valley.
Early that morning, a California settler named James Marshall was building a sawmill along the American River, when something shiny caught his eye. It was a golden nugget about the size of a pea.

GOLD RUSH and WILD WEST Protractor Angle Art - Measuring and Adding Angles
Students will design a GOLD RUSH and a LIFE IN THE WILD WEST scene by gluing a protractor cut-out onto the bottom of the paper. Then students will draw objects at specified angles using both sides of the protractor.

Students will design a GOLD RUSH scene or a WILD WEST scene by creating a number line river and and dividing the river into fractions/equal parts. Then students will draw landmarks at specified fractions on the number line.
