Fun End of Year Math Activities - Ideas & Student Punchcards

    Description

This Fun End of Year Math Activities Bundle will help you get through the last couple weeks of school when you have finished your math curriculum. These activities are perfect for 1st grade and 2nd grade students.

It's hard to keep students on task and working hard until the end of the school year, but these fun math activities for the end of year will keep your students' attention. And they are also low prep! Which is super nice, since we know teachers are running low on energy at the end of the school year.

These fun end of year math activities include math crafts, interactive worksheets, and math fact games.

Here are 3 ideas on how to incorporate these math activities at the end of the school year:

    • Have students make a math craft during your math block. These have lots of versions that include math facts or 2-digit addition/subtraction. Print off color by the number worksheets, math fact riddles, or the I-Spy math fact worksheets for students to do as a fast finisher activity when they are done.

    • Do rotations of math fact games. Split students into 5 groups. They rotate through these activities: math fact bingo, math fact memory match, math fact board games, math fact riddles, and I-Spy math facts.

    • Print off a bunch of the worksheets: color by numbers (find these in the crafts), math fact riddles, and I-Spy worksheets. When students complete a worksheet, they get a punch on their punch card. When they complete a row of 5, they get a little treat or prize.

I've included a bonus file where you can print out this end of year math ideas list and student punchcards.

End the school year strong with these fun end of year math activities!

Add within 100, including adding a two-digit number and a one-digit number, and adding a two-digit number and a multiple of 10, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method and explain the reasoning used. Understand that in adding two-digit numbers, one adds tens and tens, ones and ones; and sometimes it is necessary to compose a ten.
    Add and subtract within 20, demonstrating fluency for addition and subtraction within 10. Use strategies such as counting on; making ten (e.g., 8 + 6 = 8 + 2 + 4 = 10 + 4 = 14); decomposing a number leading to a ten (e.g., 13 - 4 = 13 - 3 - 1 = 10 - 1 = 9); using the relationship between addition and subtraction (e.g., knowing that 8 + 4 = 12, one knows 12 - 8 = 4); and creating equivalent but easier or known sums (e.g., adding 6 + 7 by creating the known equivalent 6 + 6 + 1 = 12 + 1 = 13).
Use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve one- and two-step word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.
Fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies. By end of Grade 2, know from memory all sums of two one-digit numbers.
